Three Porsche's among the top five Patrick Long qualifies among the top five at Le Mans.
Customer-run GT's prove to be quite formidable in the run up to the Le Mans 24 hour race. Three of the four entered are among the top five in the GT2 class.
The 25-year-old American Porsche works driver Patrick Long was the fastest of the 911 drivers on the high-speed circuit at La Sarthe. He turned the second fastest lap in the GT2 class with 4:04.622 minutes. Long shares the cockpit of the Imsa Performance run Porsche with Austrian factory driver Richard Lietz and French driver Raymond Narac.
“I'm very pleased with our time because we worked mainly for a good race set-up and didn't want to risk anything in qualifying,” Long said. “The car handles very well especially in the rain,” added his team mate Richard Lietz, who tackles the 24 hours of Le Mans for the first time.
Hartmut Kristen, Porsche's head of motorsport, said “Our customer teams have prepared themselves well for the bad weather conditions that have been predicted. All drivers are qualified. I expect an exciting fight for the GT2 class victory.”
