Porsche refutes Greenpeace claims with facts of their own.
Fighting fire with fire, Porsche was prepared for the first-ever visit from the environmental organization Greenpeace yesterday.
Accusing Porsche of being "climate pigs", Greenpeace was warmly greeted but also put in their place by simple facts. One being especially important, that less than one-tenth of 1 per cent of exhaust emissions in Germany come from Porsche's cars. Automobiles in general contribute less than 12 per cent of all exhaust emissions in Germany.
One banner hung from the Zuffenhausen plant outlined the facts: "Porsche’s contribution to CO2 emissions in traffic less than 0.1 per cent. " "Porsche has the lowest CO2 emissions per horsepower." "Porsche will reduce CO2 emissions by more than 20 per cent by the year 2012." "Porsche is introducing the hybrid engine: less than 9 litres fuel consumption on 100 km." It's pretty clear that Porsche was prepared for the Greenpeace attack. The radical group likes to go after those it feels is "attacking" the earth. But in the case of Porsche, all they could do is refer to the auto maker as a "pig." Porsche brought the facts to bear to counter what they call was a "...malicious and a clear sign of bad intent." In other words, name calling is used rather than rational discussion.
Porsche has already announced that hybrid versions of both the Cayenne and Panamera will be available to consumers within the next few years.
