As with all automakers, Porsche has it's own battles with environmentalists who are calling for a reduction in green house gases. And, to Porsche's credit, they have responded quickly. They recently announced plans for a hybrid Cayenne, which should be in showrooms by the end of this decade.
Bloomberg.com has an interesting article by Doron Levin where he talks about the possible future of sports cars in Europe, if the global alarmists have their way. | | No comments for this item |

Stuttgart. Porsche's success in the American Le Mans Series continued in Lime Rock with their fourth consecutive victory in the sixth round of the series.“This was a fantastic race for the fans that made one thing very clear: Without the top competition in the LMP2 and GT2 classes the American Le Mans Series show would be only half as good,” Porsche's head of motorsport Hartmut Kristen said after the race. “Today our better pit strategy was very clearly the reason for our one-two victory.” Drivers Ryan Briscoe and Sascha Maassen started from fifth on the grid. | | No comments for this item |

Is anyone else getting tired of all of the Porsche/Volkswagen speculation that continues, unabated, by all of the automotive media?
Any little sliver of information regarding the two auto makers and their relationship is analyzed and picked apart like hyena on their latest kill.
In a staff meeting, Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking addressed the recent media reports regarding Porsche's take over of Volkswagen, further fueling the debate on whether or not Porsche will become some overbearing controlling interest in the day to day operations of Volkswagen.
In a quick summary, Wiedeking told Porsche employees, “Volkswagen will remain Volkswagen.” There, enough said.

Porsche 911 GT3 RS Fifth Gear's Tiff Needell takes a brilliant two-fold test drive. He compares Porsche's 911 GT3 RS to the GT3 Cup car. Both cars are incrediblely similar. Each laps the track very quickly but the Cup car is only a few seconds faster. You have to wonder, just as Needell does, if the GT3 RS had racing slicks and a proper transmission, could it match the Cup car's time? | | No comments for this item |

Just one week after claiming the overall victory at the Nürburgring 24 hour race, the French team, Imsa Performance, won the GT2 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Finishing with a six-lap lead, drivers Richard Lietz (Austria) and Patrick Long (USA) together with Raymond Narac (France), this marks the eighth win out of nine long distance events at the Sarthe with a GT car based off Porsche's GT3. | | No comments for this item |
