Gemballa Avalanche GTR

Now our drooling eyes have more to distract us during a slow day in the office. The new Gemballa Avalanche GTR 800 EVO-R has arrived. The styling on this new-age super car is beyond sleek, and passed sexy 10 miles back.

The GTR has some serious changes from anything you can expect to see at your local Porsche dealership. With 850bhp, you can’t expect anything less than a highly mutated racing machine. Now Porsche doesn’t manufacture this car, but they did all the groundwork with building and designing the original stock automobile, the 911 Turbo. Gemballa is a tuner company that modifies cars into super cars, and that’s exactly what they did with the GTR. The body is similar to the stock 911 Turbo, but a lot has been done nevertheless. Some engine mods have been performed, like building the engine to 3.8 liters, and harnessing much larger turbos on board. The exterior on the other hand, is what makes the heads turn.

RSR wins a 24-hour race. Surprised?

Porsche 911 GT3 RSR

Early in the year Porsche announced the arrival of a new 911 Turbo, the GT3 RSR. This GT3 looks like a wide-bodied stepbrother of earlier models, and screams of its track origin, roll cage and all. Although not quite something you would see on the street, this car still sells itself as a pure blooded Porsche. This car was bred for the track and made to dominate any race it squeals its tires in. Most recently being the Nürburgring 24-hour event. Even though its name should mean that it competes in the GT3 championships, it actually is racing for the flag in the GT2 races. The aerodynamic changes made to this car from other models are drastic, but very clean. The wide body kit is designed to make the car look like a part of the road rather than presenting a clunky and fat look, like other kits have been known to do. The wheelbase is wide and staggering, keeping with previous championship winning rides. This car is well designed, and impeccably upgraded, perfect for winning championships. Just like they did a few weeks ago in Germany.

Nurburgring

Porsche will dominate the starting grid at this weekend's 24 Hours of Nürburgring (ADAC 24h Rennen Nürburgring) which, to over 200,000 race fans, is the ultimate in German motor sports. But not only is it a huge draw for fans, but it ranks quite high with Porsche's factory drivers, with five of the German marque's pilots competing for various teams. A total of 34 Porsche's will square off against other competitors, making it the most popular car at this year's endurance race.

RS Spyder's head to Salt Lake City

2007 Salt Lake City winners

Round 4 of the 2008 American Le Mans Series

Porsche looks to build on it's points lead as they and the rest of the ALMS teams take to the Miller Motorsport Park for this Sunday's Utah Grand Prix. You can catch the race on the Speed Channel which begins at 1PM local time.

The circuit has changed a bit from last year's race as the track has been shortened from just over 7km to about 5km. Porsche's drivers still consider it one of the more demanding courses of the year where it's twisting turns should benefit the RS Spyder's.

“A great track. Despite the shortening of the circuit there are still a lot of corners which suits us very well. But you also drive on the long straight more often and that is certainly not to our advantage,” said Penske driver Sascha Maassen.
